Acoustic Guitar Amps - Developing That Natural Sound.
Whilst acoustic guitars were never created to work outside of the amplification that their hollow bodies produce naturally, they are at a great disadvantage when used in conjunction with other musicians who are using amplified instruments. So, ways have been sought to amplify acoustic guitars. One way is to attach a microphone to an acoustic guitar, which amplifies the natural sound of the guitar itself. This is probably a reasonable course of action provided there is no other noise or music near you. If there is, then the likelihood is that other sounds will also be amplified too.
The natural course of action was to add a pickup to a guitar, and amplify it through normal electric amps. This has been the way of doing things for many years, but the problem with this solution is that the amplified sound is not a natural sound, but the amp's interpretation of the sound.
A third solution is the use of specific acoustic amps which try and produce the natural sound but amplified so that many more can hear it.

One problem you will need to be aware of and to counter is that of feedback, where amplified sound is fed back to the amplifier and amplified again, resulting in a high pitched wail. Acoustically amplified instruments are particularly susceptible to this, so it is a problem to test for when looking at acoustic guitar amps.
Many advances have been made in recent years with the acoustic guitar pickups that do all of the work of collecting the sound when you play your guitar. It can be argued that some can get pretty close to a natural acoustic sound.
