i'm not going to sit here and try to win any kind of argument or "contest". you have your opinion and i have mine. we're just going to have to agree to disagree. small shops only carry the most "sellable" items as they don't want to waste their money. small shops are a dime a dozen, as are 6 strings. 7 strings aren't as common as 6 strings, but they are not rare (5 string basses aren't rare either. fretless basses are more rare than 5 strings). that's my point. agree to disagree. later.

I've seen a few five string bass, some e drums, dj gear and an ampeg guitar amp (yeah, ampeg makes guitar amp) not a single seven string yet... either i got to get my glasses right or it's still uncommon. Yeah keep the names dropping, not because someone famous that they're counting for more. i'm just looking for sheer numbers of propagation and a proof that my aunt or girlfriend wouldn't not ask why my guitar has 7 not 6 strings, not: "Oh! there's the nevermore guys and some swedish dudes that make some sick polyryhtmic phrasing. They are using 7 and 8 strings guitar so it's common." Downtuning implies playing below E standard. How do you achieve? Add a strings or restring with thicker gauges.

With a few notable exception, it's mainly along the basic structure of: verse and chorus fillers until 1 minute low tuned chug chug breakdown and then chorus until the end. Interesting interpretation. Jett sings from the perspective of an adult who survived that rough period and can look back on it, more or less fondly. The Replacements/Westerberg's version was very much from the perspective of the teen(s) going through that at the time - full of angst, anger and frustration. I think the original is truer to the tone of the lyrics, but I appreciate what she's trying to do here.

I am angry at the way kids are taught because now i realise that what i was taught to believe in half the time was wrong. Its great to be able to be yourself and kids arent told they can do that. Kids should be told that this stuff isnt wrong and let them make up their own minds who they are.

Just saw them last night in EL Paso for the first time. This song is a classic. They played this song in front of a crowd of over 20,000 people and the place went nutz. She got pissed because people in the crowd were body passing kids to the front and when she stopped singing because of it, someone threw a beer can at her. the place got even more crazy after that. Yup. They get sticky and won't play anymore. Mostly the ones that were made in the 70's and early 80's. I've had to throw a bunch away because of that. The tape sticks to itself and the tape heads, and eventually grinds to a halt. I wish I would have bought those on vinyl in the first place.
