it's a abnormal structure or swelling that appears on your vocal cords, it usually happens when a voice is forced/strained. alot of singers and artists have suffered from it, everyone from mariah carey to justin timberland. not straining your voice and resting treats it, but in some cases, surgery is required and you may never be able to sing perfectly again.

Not bragging or anything but If you look at most Fil. artist that have vids in youtube and compare thier voices after lets see 20 years of singing Phillippine style belting (Birit) you will be amazed as how thier voices did not degrade unlike some of the western pop artist, there's a hidden technique somewhere. Lea Salonga, Regine Velazquez, Jonalyn Viray, Jaya, Lani Misalucha to name a few. Charice doesn't sing birit style in the US but in Fil you bet she does its evident in YT.

As a operatic vocal teacher, keep on singing girl. I takes a lot to develop nodules. She is singing for 4 mins. Try singing an octive higher for an hour. Im not going to knock this girl, she is a performer,& people like watching her The only thing Im going to say if she continues to do that vocal effect with her throat she is gonna form a vocal fold nodule You can tell when she sings with a vocal effect from her throat and when she sings without it (this is when she usually sings a high note) Im going to get negative comments, but im not insulting her performance, im just concerned because i know many people that lost their musical voice
