This is superb! I listen to many other orchestras, but this is so wonderful that this performance makes others not so interesting. The percussion is so important to keep the pace and is the base of this piece, I think. Each horn and other instruments are so good and well complement one another. Fantastic!

I was out of Britain when this happened and so I watched an American coverage. The commentators were speculating who was going to come second. So I watched expecting a mere gold medal for the UK what I got was sensational. I had a tear in my eye at the end. I'm so proud to come from Nottingham. The new Ice Centre has a square in it called Bolero Square.

This is just incredible: to get 6's from Soviet block countries in the 1980's was almost unbelievable. Just shows how perfect Jane and Chris were; not even the supercritical Soviet judges could find any fault with this. This is a great show of fair judging, and is worth of respect. They were the greatest ice-dancers ever, and will always be.

When something happens in sport that is better than the best, that changes the way it is seen, that sets new standards never considered possible, it is sport history its very special. This was simply the best. I never watched ice dance before T&D but was totally blown away by this performance. Simply the best. 1984 and we stil talk about it, thats how special it was.

I disagree. If you're holding out for Baryshnikov, beware. Difference in overall quality of technique is small. (If you haven't seen his tours en l'air, you should.) More significantly, Nureyev had characterization down to a fine art in the earliest work I've seen. He and Fonteyn scorched the screen in parts of Romeo and Juliet. Early Baryshnikov I've seen doesn't show depth in characterization, though I'm told that as recent DVD orders come in, I'll see he later learned to act very well.

This is not nureyev, lads. Not at all. This is Jorge Donn, an Argentinian dancer, very talented, whose bolero was considered as his masterpiece. In the movie from which this is extracted, Jorge Donn's character is inspired by Rudi Nureyev. But it was not nureyev who played in the movie.

And I think Junsu's not singing in the chorus because of how thick his singing tends to be (which is a great thing. I love hearing his voice above the others' every now-and-then. He wasnt too active. He was one of the many people who thought that they couldnt be the only one were right. Anyway, Karajan ran away from the Nazis and Germany, at some point, I think... I really respect him. I don't think he had the same beliefs as Hitler. Its basically making a wrong choice because everyone makes it. It was a mistake, but I don't think we can condemn him as a Nazi for that.

It means "to fly" or "to soar" I don't think the word Bolero has an exact meaning since "to fly" comes from the word Volar Bolero can also mean a slow dance with rhythm and stance for example, ballet etc..
