I lied, i actually went to Juilliard. No i wanted to go (but never went) to Berklee, and lied in hopes of backing an argument... that was def a 15 year thing to do heh. I do go to college but not as a music major. I appreciate all genres, but that doesnt mean i have to appreciate everyone in that genre. Going to a music school doesn't validate that i am a genius, but never in my argument did i say that. Simply means i spend alot of time with it. I'm a Berklee grad (2003) and I think Peter Gabriel is a genius. I also think the Brazilian Girls are very innovative. "Knowing" something about music includes having an appreciation for all genres, and respecting the opinions of others without being childish and inflammatory. Also, if you really are a Berklee student, you'd know the correct name of the school is BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC, not "Berklee music college".

It depends on what you really looking for... Rio is the postcard town, hot, tropical, picture perfect, easy going , relaxed and sexy, but also muggy, chaotic and violent... Curitiba is very European, cold, clean and organized, but it may be a tad boring if you are looking for crazy fun, as it is a fairly conservative town... If you are looking to have the time of your life, go to Rio, but if you are looking to learn in a safer and more professional environment, stick with Curitiba.

Trinidad carnival is overrated. 500+ dollars US to jump up in Tribe/Islandpeople. It's becoming mostly for the rich tourists. Overpriced fetes. Trini is good, but Brazil is on another level. And Brazilian carnival is 6 days and nights, not 2 like Trinidad. You guys could only dream of making the costumes they parade at carnaval. I am not big in Rio style carnival, but imo nowhere is better than Salvador da Bahia. That city rocks.

Do you speak Spanish? I am a native speaker and believe me they sound amazingly different. Portugues utilizes alot of sounds that are not used as often in Spanish. Spanish is alot more phonetic (and prettier sounding) while Portugues slurs alot. It sounds like Spanish backwards. Italian and Spanish sound closer to one another even though Italian is closer to French in terms of grammar.

This song, particularly the opening, sounds VERY much like a piece entitled 'Indio Gitano' that appears on Pullen's 1990 CD "Random Thoughts". The main differences are that this song is played here in 6/8 time and the other is in 5/4 w/a trio format. This clearly is not the identically titled Kenny Dorham composition from his 1962 album "Matador". Pullen's 'El Matador' is on his 1993 CD "Ode To Life", which features these same musicians. Not to quibble though because they're both SMOKIN'!!
