I agree, but you have to look at the advancement of music in the years James played versus when Jaco played. Musicianship had grown tremendously from the 60's to the 70's when Jaco played. Also I believe playing with weather report challenged Jaco to find new ways to express himself which lead to a more innovative approach. Believe me I know Jaco was phenomenal, but Jamerson changed the whole approach to the bass. He was just the pioneer of it all. Much respect to you my fellow music critic.

That's how many times I've listened to this! For those of you seeking out the full 11 minute version you're going to have to buy the Woodstock anniversary 4-disc box set that came out in 1994. Elvis' management was very afraid a similar backlash would kill Elvis' reputation if it was ever found out that he was going out with a then 14 year old Priscilla Presley. Actually it doesn't just "explode", the bearing failed while rotating, allowing the fan blade to shift, the shift in the fan blade allowed one of the blades to collide with the pole, this weakened the pole and the broke the blade, the sudden breaking of the blade unbalanced the turbine causing a massive amount of torque on the pole, causing it to buckle, the other blades also continued rotating and each one collided with the pole causing more damage. At 100RPM, 0.01 second is all it would take.
