Love every one of Buddy's solos, but this one is easily one of my all time favorites. It's because he's got this really muscial swinging groove going on for the majority of it. It just seems to stand out more so in this one. Particularly, I love it from about 3:30 to 3:38. It gets me every time.

For decades people have talked about, "Buddy's left hand"..and how utterly incredible he could use it with the speed and dexterity and finesse that most players could only achieve with two hands(maybe!)..but if there's ever been any doubt of the capabilities of his right hand in comparison to his left...see 2:39 to 2:44 as just one example of that right hand's identical matched grip prowess to Buddy's left's traditional grip. Superb dexterity and speed...finesse, precision. So impressive.

Yes, MarkR1957..I think you are right as I had heard many years ago about Buddy being given 'prototype' hardware from companies such as Ludwig...prior to it/them being released to the public for purchase. I'm sure he could even had suggested or in fact given design ideas and asked companies to make things which he wanted. I'm pretty sure this is 1978.

I gave a copy of this album to my daughter when she moved to Australia for a few years, and she loved it.
