A bigass harmonica? Actually, it sounds like they're all playing a chromatic harmonica. Thing is, chromatic harmonica's nowadays have this little button that switches between different reeds, allowing more practicality and easier to handle. I'm guessing this is what an old chromatic harmonica looks like - without the technology to switch between reeds? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It all depends on what key you like to sing in. I have an A harp myselve. U can play any song you wanna with any kind of harmonica. I mainly use the chords A-E-D-f#m-b#m-c#m with my harp. If u get a c harp, u'll play in C-F-G-am-dm-em. For great guitar and harmonica, listen to neil young offcourse. And if u wanna play single notes, try to dip ur harp in a bowl of water, shake it off, blow hard all over one time. Then it is easier to pick up the single notes. Good luck!

The high E string can be tuned to the 5 hole blow on a C harp, then tune it to itself. Learn the G, C and D chord, they make most of the songs ever written. A "C" harp used with these chords sounds really good, you'll be playing in second position, or cross harp. Musicians are always in a state of "becoming." If someone tells you that you are NOT a musician, they are jealous. Everyone is basically cool, but Musicians are VERY cool...well, not everyone. Don't be an ass, ever. NTJ

Of course not :) I watch all kinds of movies. The thing that bugs me is that "art" movies are virtually non-existent in mainstream movie making. Scorcese said recently he would not be able to produce a movie like the Godfather nowadays, as the studios watch every step of the director to make sure it adheres to market demands. The mold is rarely broken these days.

I agreekm I don't think its blatant racism, but the Hollywood backroom politics you alluded to are responsible for the snubs. Most foreign artists and movie makers just don't have the connections many of the Hollywood stars and studios have. But to be honest, I don't care about Oscars or awards. I prefer to look at movies as art rather than pure entertainment. Sadly, the art aspect seems to increasingly take a backseat in modern theater.

I think you'll find plenty of "foreigners" receive Oscars on numerous occasions. Most cases the film being little known, or others being that the one time "foreigner" has lived in America for years, leading people to forget they are not American. The Oscars has been and always will be a popularity contest bent on backroom politics than merely because someone being prejudiced against for simply being "foreign".

You should open your eyes a bit more. Foreigners usually have it twice as hard to be acknowledged in Hollywood. Look how they snuffed Bruno Ganz's performance in Downfall. There are a plethora of examples were foreigners were snuffed in favor of the old Hollywood homies. Recently it has gotten better, but it used to be bad.

Being European would have nothing to do with it, given various contributing artists from actors to musicians around the world are awarded Oscars for movies/films that aren't American nearly every year. So, the most likely case being, it didn't do well in 1968, and critics attempts to try and bury the film. Until years later when film professors begun using it in their classes to teach their students about use of music in film. It was then it begun being recognized for being a great movie.

Hola,tocas muy bien. Haber si me aconsejas. Me compre hace un mes una Hohner Blues Harp en C de madera, y apenas logre el sonido de cada nota por separado, y comenzaba a entusiasmarme, siento que esta tapada. Algunas notas suenan ahogadas como si algo impidiera que el sonido suene libremente. la abri, pero no encontre nada, y no me atrevo a limpiarla sin saber como, no quiero desafinarla. Bueno a ver si puedes ayudarme. Gracias.

I don't hear any tongue-slap, and the tonal qualities of the first and last note of the riff--which I'm claiming are both 2 draws--are identical. I have an old fender amp, and an old mic like that, and when i push that thing right to full tilt, it makes a magical sound playing those few notes that actually makes my heart race a little faster. There is no other feeling like it. Then I can plug in a strat or es335 and it will do the same thing. Those old fender amps are the shit, I garantee it!
