Saw Jeff do this in Dallas the day after Stevie Ray was buried. He dedicated this song to Stevie. The lights were turned down and bics/lighters came up. Was a magical moment I'll never forget. To think of Jeff and Stevie jammin in heaven... Gives me chill bumps. It's such a shame he died so young. Seems like all the good ones do. Rest in peace Jeff. PS: Was never a huge fan of the Beatles version. Jeffs version kicks a**.

A twangy sound comes from single coils and heavy strings. Barely the body. A humbucker in an alder/ash body strat with the right player will sound almost the same as a paul...Its mostly the player...not the shape of the guitar. I own several of both and sound the same with humbuckers, and the same with single coils. Its the player, his pickups and amp. End of story.

I agree about the fingers . The body does matter though . You don't get alot of low end with an alder or ash body compared to a les paul . The strat is known for making twangy sounds but Doug makes it sound like a paul .And yes ,I noticed the humbucker .
