i think the 60s and 70s have provided us with a wealth of fantasic bands and music.some were more innovative than others but it really all boils down to personal opinion.the band were really talented musicians and songwriters

i dont understand the comment about the british army, ira etc.what has this got to do with the music on this video
By: eski502. on 04 Dec 08, 04:22:33
how about Skynyrd? For a band that existed for 4 years to have that kind of a showing on classic rock stations today is incredible. I don't know if you could find a better good song to bad song ratio than theirs. Not saying they were the best- because they weren't around long enough- but arguably the best in a 4 year window. So yea, calling anything outside the Beatles average is ridiculous. The Beatles were good, but for every good song there are 10 terrible ones with them.
By: rebelsneverdie. on 04 Dec 08, 02:54:59
the Beatles were an awesome band but there were alot of bands that compared to them =/ Zepplin CCR The Who The Band Queen come on now to label any music other then the beatles a barely average completely mediocre "band". you would have to be a complete moronic retard or just a very opinionated bullshit headed fuck :)
By: britishinvasion1. on 03 Dec 08, 23:30:12
Yeah, sure retard. No band compares to the Beatles in any form. If you cant see that.......well you are a fan of the barely average completely mediocre "band".
By: SummerCamp1. on 03 Dec 08, 18:04:54
the beatles suck... get over it... open your ears... people quit dancin cuz the music sucked and they were waiting for the Dead... The Band is top 3 bands of all time in america.... no question. peace and love.

By: OmbraSorrore. on 01 Dec 08, 03:24:07
You do get the occasional band or artist with this much passion, just not a lot of them and not consistently...
By: OmbraSorrore. on 01 Dec 08, 03:13:59
You have heard of classical music yes?? people listened to that without dancing, and also gospel - both choir and rock had people listening without dancing. I also don't think they had many people dancing to the vast majority of blues or bluegrass either. Bands like this one were around long before the fabricated boy bands like the Beatles and the Monkees and they will be around long after them too, & as it happens I have a rather comprehensive critical knowledge of modern music. 5 years worth.

I don't think you can equate slavery with 'blood for oil.'
By: Napier1000. on 30 Nov 08, 06:54:23
American traditional music made people sit down and listen long before the Beatles. So did blues, blue grass, etc etc. Both White and Black southern and Appalachian music along with Irish influence made American music long before the Beatles came along. My view is the Beatles and Stones were the beginning of the end of real music. Hell the dam Stones were ripping off one old southern black musician after another...Don Mclean was right!
By: bernardshakey2. on 30 Nov 08, 01:39:20
What does the Beatles have to do with "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"??? No one gives a fuck about it.
By: britishinvasion1. on 30 Nov 08, 00:56:53
If you dont think that The Beatles are the Measuring stick for pop/rock then you dont have any critical knowledge of modern music. The beatles single handedly legitimized the pop/rock as a art form. No other can make that claim. One could say that the "Beatles" are when people stopped dancing and started listening to the music. Without them average/mediocre bands like the "Band" would never have been heard.

slavery was just propaganda to keep the europeans out of the war.
By: jockherbertperry. on 29 Nov 08, 06:05:32
My great great uncle was a Brigadier General in the Florida Guards. Preservation of state rights was the key reason Southerners fought the Union - slavery was merely the moral instrument used by the Federal Govt (Union), to wage war. Same crap still happening today (Oil=Iraq). Maybe the South was right after all. Long live the South.

As opposed to the corrupt and filthy members of the british army who have killed and tormented far more people than the IRA has ever harmed, or people like Margaret Thatcher that proposed they go the way of what Cromwell attempted to do and commit genocide on the Irish, including all of those innocent women and children??
By: OmbraSorrore. on 29 Nov 08, 01:14:05
By the sounds of things, and if you think the Beatles are the measuring stick for all types of rock and pop, then not only is your taste dubious, but your undestanding and knowledge of music and it's complexities and history leave a great deal to be desired. Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm the fact.
