I don't think you are speaking about a great voice but more of a voice that can get very high and stay in tune.I think Bob Dylan has a great voice because i really like the sound of it. Early Emmylou Harris performances of this song are probably the best if you want superb vocal quality, but time has by now taken its toll even on her once exquisite voice. I think you are forgetting that creating something, even if it's not a very good something, is an act of expression that is tremendously valuable to the creator if not the consumer. We can't all be Bob Dylan, or create things that are as transfixing as Desolation Row. The rest of us can only express ourselves in whatever way we know.
