The simple answer is we lost. By "we" I mean all of us who care for music, and all of them who tried to change the music business to favor the artist. The labels won. We now get The Jonah Brothers and Miley Cyrus who admit maybe a five or ten second lead-guitar solo admist the muck that is pre-teenage sound. If I may borrow from the melody of this tune, "We came on a time when we could have changed all the world ... instead we find that the powers that be stay the same. In the white room."

It was not about a mental institution, it was (sort of) about a train station. It was written by Jack Bruce (bass player) and Pete Brown (a poet who was the song-writer for Cream behind the scenes). Jack supposedly wrote the guitar chops, and Pete wrote colorful phrases around the theme of waiting at a train station (obviously) while tripping on drugs (it was the 60's afterall). I think it is Eric's best solo for Cream, and probably for his entire career. But that's just my opinion.

Actually, each musician contributed considerable amounts to Cream; most of Sunshine of Your Love was written by Clapton, as was the solo in Crossroads. Baker made his own drum sections, and almost of Cream's lyrics were written by poet Pete Brown. Clapton is definately not an egomaniac. Cream broke off because Jack Bruce couldn't get over himself and kept up his feud with Baker. Jack is pretty arrogant, look for some of his comments about Led Zeppelin to see what I mean. I love Cream, btw. :)

I wouldn't really say Fugazi was emo but many similar bands were like Grey Matter. The word was originally reserved for hardcore punk bands whose singers got really emotional and broke down crying on stage or sang about really emotional stuff opposed to political stuff like earlier punk bands. Still wouldn't call Fugazi "emo" but no one should be offend because the real "emo" music is no different than punk and actually IS hardcore punk music.

But on my next trip, I will be taking 2 little children who have never been there before. I really don't want it to be packed on their first trip.
