I agree. Watchtower might use very complicated and fast beats, but it simply doesn't sound good to my ears. DT does that too, but it amost always sounds good. (Solo masturbating ftl though) Also, it seems to my ears (Admittedly I have not heard many songs) that the songs are not very different from each other. Iron Maidenish but more technical.

I respect Watchtower for what they helped pioneer. My only problem with them was that when you started grooving on a cool part, they went and changed it on you. The other thing that sucks is when you read a biography on them, Dangerous Toys always gets a mention: Watchtower-Energetic Disassembly, Cimmerian Shadow Dangerous Toys: Sportin a Woody, Teasin, Pleasin Need i say more?

The problem with progressive is that it discards things like driving rhythms. There is a reason for forward drive and straightforward bass drums, like it or not. You can go all over into 7/4 and things like that but in cases like this I think it harms the forward pressure of the music, interrupting it with pointless fullstops and changes that don't add anything to the music.

Actually singing this high all the time requires extraordinary talent and range no matter if you like it or not. Essentially this is SINGING and that's something I can't really say for nowadays mainstream metal. As for the Dream Theater comparison matter, Watchtower individually are better players than DT and altogether make more sense in songwriting. And they were in the prog niche way before DT ever got the idea always playing heavy metal music. GODZ

ok its like this...........Dylan Wrote It....we all know he was a great poet, not a great singer.........Hendrix made it famous, greatest guitar riff in the history of this song, DMB made it unbelieveable at a live show because of his vocals and just raw emotion they add to every song.

To be quite honest I like em, they kick out some sick music, but still they look like a bunch of scene kids who perhaps enjoyed Dimmu's newest album a bit too much and thus decided to make this music, and got lucky enough to pick up a new drummer who plays the sorta music well. Though the name Abigail williams really doesnt prepare you for this music, its a pretty crappy name. But yeah good band, some of the scream (screamo style) vocals are sorta shit but overall pretty brutal.

Didn't see him at this show but I saw him in 07 a month earlier. The atmosphere was very surreal. There was an opening act for the opening act and Bob burned incense on stage that lulled you into his world for the duration of the concert. Definately the most memorable concert I've ever been to.

He's gone through periods where it seemed like he lost it, and his voice is definitely not the same as it used to be. His 1997 album Time Out Of Mind though probably ranks among his top ten. I think Things have changed (2000) is a masterpiece. And he's put out 3 straight albums beginning with Love and Theft that are just collections of great musicianship and wonderful poetic imagery. So he can still put out new stuff, I think he just doesn't want to go political anymore b/c he hates it.

First saw Dave and the boys tear this song a new one back in 1976 at Bowling Green University. It was the best track on his first live concert album as well. You could hear it blasting out of half the dorm rooms on campus on a warm spring day. In his 60's now and his voice hasn't aged a bit.
