Most people say they think Dylan's declined, and I can't understand it. Dylan has always adapted. He went from a country boy to a protester to a humanist poet to a preacher and has come back full circle. Just because he doesn't sound the same doesn't mean he's gone downhill. He's just different now, and I love the fact that I can look back on all of the different shapes he's taken to get here.

i have to disagree i think as different as they may be they definately still have the basis for comparison being 2 different versions of the same song, like house of the rising sun most people prefer the animals version but i think dylans is just so soulful it is unmatched by any other version of the song,and i think with the hendrix and dylan versions they have more basis for comparison being that they are such different versions

chaotic imagery with no real connective ideas, i'm afraid. dylan stopped writing 'poetry' with the brilliant john wesley harding album. this is a series of seductive, pretentious formulations - thrown together at random as a song. that's all it is - a song - one of the few good tunes bob dylan could muster in the 80s... sorry - dylan's great work with done in the sixties (plus the astonishing blood on the tracks)...but you have exaggerated the literary significance of this silly tune...
