This song is so true! It's actually about his search for God and his faith in God. The beginning lines of the song are reference to evolution. "If the fish swam out of the ocean and grew legs and started walking, and the apes climbed down from the trees and grew tall and they started talking"...etc. "The stars fell out of the sky" is probably in reference to the Big Bang theory. The second stanza talks about how he can sense that God is there.

True story - mate of mine from work plays piano. Was playing in a restaurant in Dublin when Sam Brown and some of her band ( early 90s - before her Jools Holland days) walked in. She liked what he was playing - it was one of his own - and they invited him to come to their gig in the Olympia (dublin) that night. He went and was in the crowd - the piano player played his tune in the intro and Sam Brown said a cryptic thank you on the mic before opening the gig!! Nice one Frank.

The entire show was videotaped by a local Oslo TV station, and also included Eddie Floyd, Arthur Conley, and Otis Redding. Grainy video copies have existed for years among collectors. Now, the entire 75 minute concert with bonus footage is available on DVD. "The Stax/Volt Revue Live In Norway, 1967" is a total delight, and worth every penny.
