Is there any use for a 1 GB HD? Unless you are making a vintage PC or are designing an application-specific device where you don't need 250 GB or so of capacity, then what's the use? If you're going to use a 1 GB HD in a USB enclosure, you should just buy a 1 GB flash drive. 3 terabytes of data storage is not any good if it's not reliable. Those drives were probably being destroyed because they were used up and worn out. If you don't shred them, they're only good for paperweights or setting yourself up for a serious data theft liability. They may or may not contain sensitive data that necessitated the destruction of the drives, but this is the best way to break them down for recycling to make new drives.

And that's assuming the drives weren't first hit with a demagnetizer, which will wipe out the low level formatting. If you wipe out the low level that writes the sectors on the platters, then you'll have also wiped out the high level formatting, which is where the data is kept: effective erasure. Forensics can only go so far to gather info that's usable. A shredded drive will have no usable, retrievable data because there's no way you can put it back together again in exactly the right order.

Trust me, everything what makes him awesome is all in his lessons "picking techniques" "upstrokes"...a lot of people will try the same lick but not with that upstroke, and its still possible but harder to play that lick. You just have to get used to the upstrokes. One more important thing is that you should really listen to the notes and to the rythm while practicing his stuff. Peace.

I'll take your point cktaresh, but if you know where to put it and not overuse it, speed kills. Like in "Pull Me Under" by Dream Theater, petrucci can shred my balls off, but he doesn't go totally overboard in the song, he just adds that insane speed to small transitional parts that just need it

I look up to Paul in many ways, mainly the way he approaches guitar and his style, but not the exact licks. "Who cares what your fingers are doing as long as it sounds cool." Every guitar player will do well to listen to that quote. Some of the best riffs in rock aren't that difficult, case in point, "Whole Lotta Love," some view at as one of the best riffs ever created, but it's not that intricate of a song, it's actually very simplistic.
