snooker shots are when you cant hit a red ball because its being blocked by colored balls. If you hit the colored ball without hitting the red ball your opponent receives the points from the colored ball you hit.

thanks for replying.yes i started a few months ago.tried using my dad's 17oz dufferin 2 piece cue but it doesn't suit me.i prefer those heavier 1 piece cues like Joe Davis's M1 Millenium Cue (i think).any brands that suits my heavier-cue liking ?

i am lead to believe that a cue made from canadian maple wood are the weapon of chioce for most players. but it sounds like you are new to the game so you probably not going to appreciate the difference yet so my advice would be to buy a pro endorsed cue from a sport shop (£30ish)to start with. when you get more frames under your belt try other cues for different balance weight and tip size that suits your style of play. expensive cues wont make you a better player if it dont suit your style

any 147 is awesome I don't think you can call a maximum break flukey because of 1 shot out of 36, that's like saying that a 300 is flukey in bowling if every strike isn't millimeter perfect, Cliff Thorburn's 147 in the Crucible started with a fluke red and he went on to make a max break and people still talk about that today even though it was like 30 years ago. I say well done to anyone getting a 147 (or 155...) regardless of the odd fluke

all 147s require a combination of skill and luck. first of all the balls have to be in a suitable position to stay on the black, and then the chances of being able to pot every ball without a miss is unlikely. especially in a tournament when your main aim will be to win the match.

But can't you imagine although, that with this aid a "very theoretic and possible" (by snookaus) is possible?? That probably never will happen, OK. Read this text by snookasus: "If you have at the beginning a free ball... you pot during your break the red-brown (referee does the accidently aid) and the "new" and all other reds you always pot red-black. basically...the only possible way for a BREAK of more than 147......is if the oncoming player is granted a free ball and plays the black(or anything else)as the colour....lets say u break off n u foul somehow(lets say u touch another ball with yr hand)and the oncoming player cannot hit a red directly....then he is granted a free ball and gets the option to pot a colour instead of a red(1point)after potting the free ball ..the player then plays the normal game with the 15 reds and remaining clrs

its not always the pot that makes it a good shot its potting the ball and then getting position with the white ball to carry on the break. mark selbys shot at number six was not easy at all cos of what he had to do to get the white ball back down to the reds to carry on the break which is why the commentator is talking about him putting whats called "bottom" and "follow through" on the cue ball, its crazy.
