i'm young and was recently exposed to these great acoustic leonard cohen songs. Very folksy and expressive, brilliant really. But then i wandered towards his more popular songs, 80s material. Sad that the 80s ever occured, i find it hard to believe that a man who can give us this very real, poetic and intuitive song can go and synth it up and give into that mundane way of making music. ugh.

I must disagree on the time signature. I feel this is in 4/4 with a swing feel. If you count the beats, they add up to 16 (3+3+3+3+4, in your argument). The rhythm (and drum part) in the first two bars (in my 4/4 model) is the same as the second two, so it's plausible. Of course, I don't know for sure, but that's how I feel it.

Let me add that I always hated this drummer. He was the opposite of Bonham who had the way of laying back on the beat. This guy, though always seems to push the tempo and I find that irritating as fuck.
