This is your opinion. Vai has more prestige than both Satriani and John put together...there is no question about that. Satriani is great and yes everyone knows he taught Vai, but don't forget that Zappa taught Vai a lot more than Satriani probably did...so your opinion is not necessarily all fact. I like Satriani, but he is kind of out there. He writes good music, but nothing timeless like Passion and Warfare and Images and Words. Petrucci would Disgrace you even if you practiced for 30 years.

I personaly think the technique of John is straight forward and and fast, Joe can tell you where every note is in every scale in every octave which makes him more like a traditional player, and vai is like an exotic pre-bend, 1/2 bend guy, basically an "out there" sound that works. John blows me away...he plays things that actually make sense and never a load of bullshit...he always shoots straight...vai is the technique master...satriani is just way out there in the stratosphere in his guitar ideas...great at the blues though.

If you were born in 1990, as you say you were, it was all completely degraded and awful by that point already, Grange Hill included. Rampant individualist misses point. Not everyone is lucky enough to be a rampant individualist; lots of kids are adrift in the world with shit parents and no focus at all. Since they tune into the tv more than the rampant individualists, it might be a good idea if these sad toddlers don't see too much rape and domestic abuse while their parents ignore them from age 1 to 10. According to todays PC views, i should be a murderous layabout how scrounges off the taxpayer; funny that - im in a mathematical engineering degree with 9 highers and a job......TV/Games don't influence people to do bad things; they only influence people who are already wrong in the head

Nobody said that rap sounds bad ... it's just that it's always delivered at the same tempo with the same attitude, regardless of the artist. Plus, rap doesn't demand development of talent and ability with melody and composition. I have yet to see a rapper who's also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and can do something OUTSIDE rap. It often seems to me that it's the rappers who are small-minded rather than the true musicians.

There is no doubt in my mind that it will return, I mean look at Doctor Who, if that show can come back with sheer brilliance after a 16yrs absence, then anything is possible, and look how crappy that show got nearing the end of its original run. If and when they do bring Grange Hill back they need to put more quallity into it, better acting, better storys, and man do they need to fix up the crapy back ground music that Grange Hill has suffered in recent years. Thank You very much for your comment. I very much agree with you, the series had changed alot. When i watched in the late 70s and 80s it was like watching a real school and your mates. In the 90s it just became another drama programme like any other and seemed not real. I hope in the future they can bring it back and capture its magic and appeal again as this was such an important programme when i was growing up,

I'm sure there was a shop in the town centre with an upstairs level that sold vinyl records - was that WH Smith? I also recall getting cassette computer games from Boots, no? Buses used to stop outside what is now Argos (post office at the time, before they swapped).

Love it. Pony tails, being able to drive past the barge, town centre when it was all concrete and open air. Bedford vans, ford escorts, RS2000s and marina cars. T-shirts with torn of sleeves. One of the subways disappeared, near the old WHSmith i believe. A newer Subway opens but sells sandwiches. Nice that it was captured on tape. Thnks for the momories.

It's not against the law to film in a bank but from a security point of view it makes them nervous. A bank, like any other building, is private property. Although there is a general invitation to enter they can withdraw that at any time if you commit acts they deem undesirable and can ask you to leave. So there.
