right -on brother , yes he was it.. but earlier ,it was his choice to leave the drum kit and go up front and sing etc. He did play on some WINWOOD cuts through the years ,..[by the way the drummer you see in 72' is ROGER HAWKINS -who played w/ the muscle shoals guys and on ARETHA'S RECORDS [ RESPECT .THINK ETC. ]& DUANNE ALLMAN !!

I am so glad that I can see Jim Capaldi is playing the drums! I felt angry when I saw him in their official video recorded in 1972, in which he was replaced by other drummer and participated to Traffic's live show playing only tambourine and backing vocals. However, even in such a bad condition, he played very emotional and made me feel something real.

actually, there IS a cd/dvd of precisely that 1994 tour available! it`s entitled "the last great traffic jam" and was released on epic two or three years ago. reviews were actually very good...as evidenced by this great version of pearly queen.

if I didn`t know he died in october 1991, I`d swear it`s concert promoter and fillmore east/west impresario bill graham. but then again, it might have been a part of traffic`s elaborate backdrop/light show and/or archive material...i.e. it might very well be bill graham! hope this helps...

Marc Almond is a great singer and showman, you're convinced he's living those lyrics as he sings. Sorry but David McWilliams should be honoured that Marc chose to interpret his song, no-one could've done it better. The thing I really like about the two prominent versions of this song on YouTube is there is two paradoxes between where each singer takes you with this song. David leaves more to the imagination, leaving you to interpret it as you will which if fine for many songs but Marc really does it justise enphasising the important parts of the lyrics forcing you to see it his way although still leaving a bit to imagination without ramming his interpretation of the song down your throat. Du hast völlig recht!! Glaubt weiter an David und das, was es komponiert hat. Kennt ihr das Album "The days of David McWilliams"?? Hört euch das mal an und ihr werdet eure Meinung ihm gegenüber nicht ändern. Es ist nur ein Tiefschlag, dass er so früh gehen musste. Er war in meinen Augen eine Ikone in Sachen emotionaler Kompositionen!! Eure sylo02 antwortet doch mal!!

This version is also great.When I hear this song I see myself walking though the raining streets of London, toally lost and forgotten. Teh street where only rats can run..., its the mirror of the song he sings. Pearly Spencer must have been totally lost in this moment,alone, lonely...
